SpaceClaim 2010. Direct Modeling Smells of More Features, Simulation and Sheet Metal - SolidSmack
Yesterday, SpaceClaim launched the 2010 version of the history-free 3D modeler and we're gonna give you a look at the new caffeine-rich, direct modeling features and functionality. They're serious about a few things this time around - sheet metal, assembly conditions and volume simulation, among bits of other features. It can be wrapped up beam of highly focused energy though. They're all features
users are asking for. It's all giving the major 3D modeling programs a run for the money. In fact, with this release, I'd go as far as to say, that SpaceClaim is now one of the major 3D modeling programs and., as they always have, are pushing the envelope with direct modeling. Why? Let's have a look.

SpaceClaim 2010 and Bid Modeling - Deelip.com
Bid modeling is basically what a sales engineer does to get business for his company. For example, he may need to quickly mock up a part or an assembly to show a prospective client or do a quick analysis on the customers geometry to verify it before he can place his bid. Bid modeling could also involve creating stunning photorealistic renders to better illustrate the deliverables.

The Greater Boston 3D Design Cluster - Xconomy -
Companies here [in the Boston area] lead their industry in the development of 3D design and engineering software, which help engineers create visualizations and specifications for everything from cars to buildings to the consumer products at Target and Wal-Mart. Indeed, CAD software is so central to the construction and manufacturing industries that without it, innovation and economic growth would be far slower.

Bid Modeling: A Proposal in 3D
If your engineers are already overburdened with existing projects, who can you turn to to churn out the models you need for your proposals and bids? Your sales team? Is there someone among them who knows his or her way around a CAD program? Do you need a CAD program? In this brief interview with Blake Courter and his colleague Jeff Waters, SpaceClaim's account executive, I ask them about bid modeling, or design for bid. It is, according to them, a trend worth watching.

The Five Best 3D CAD-related Tech Innovations of the Last Decade - SolidSmack
Direct-modeling development - Don't call it a comback... It's been here for years, but the last decade has shown a huge resurgence and a lot of cynicism about how it could change the direction of product development.

SpaceClaim 2009+ Preps for Simulation - Design News
In the fifth release of its 3-D direct modeling software, SpaceClaim appears to be firming up its positioning, not as an alternative to 3-D CAD packages, but rather as a utility to prepare models for simulation. The company, which launched its tool in 2007 and seemed ready to take on the leaders in the CAD space, has steered SpaceClaim off that track into the CAE space, adding capabilities that make it easy to prepare models for simulation.
