Marking the expansion of 3D modeling software to all engineers

To The Races!

Many words come to mind when one thinks about ANSYS SpaceClaim: versatile, powerful, innovative...

But perhaps the word that comes to mind the most is FAST.

So it's only fitting that ANSYS SpaceClaim is now a sponsor of 30 year veteran race car driver Kevin Bolland and his team at Bol-Tech Motorsports. The sponsorship made its public debut last weekend at the "Steel Valley Thunder" event at the Sharon Motor Speedway in Hartford, OH, where Bolland's Big Block Dirt Modified #‘777, freshly branded with ANSYS and SpaceClaim decals, burned up the DIRTcar Big Block Modified racetrack to a runner-up finish, his best of the season.

Bolland's impressive showing marks another highlight in an already highly decorated racing career, which includes multiple championships and over 100 victories in everything from Soap Box Derby to Motocross and now DIRTcar Big Block Modified.

The event drew a healthy crowd from the community who came for a family friendly fun filled evening of watching over 104 race cars compete in addition to 18 ATVs and six UTV Side-by-Sides.

Prior to the races, ANSYS SpaceClaim Director John Condon presented on how a quickly created SpaceClaim model of Bolland's DIRTcar was taken into ANSYS Fluent to analyze and simulate airflow around the body of the vehicle and optimize performance, while ANSYS Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Customer Excellence Bob Kocis looked on from the crowd. The analysis showed excessive turbulence and minimal downforce, so ANSYS SpaceClaim was used to make very quick edits to the model to change the aerodynamics of it and resolve these issues.

With the advantage of such technology behind him, Bolland's DIRTcar will most certainly leave competition in the dust in future races. This relationship personifies the overall shared goal of continually working hard to go faster: Kevin Bolland on the racetrack, and ANSYS SpaceClaim in diverse projects worldwide.

Have a quick look at the relationship in action!
