SpaceClaim 2011+ - Develop3D
SpaceClaim occupies an interesting position in the product development software market. At present, the system is gaining ground in various places and making inroads against established players. While the numbers of sales aren’t divulged, we’re certainly seeing
more SpaceClaim users registering with DEVELOP3D — and that’s always a
good indication. But why is this happening now, four years since its
initial release? One answer is that the organisation has added functionality that’s
transformed the system from being an interesting new technology to
something that’s eminently usable.

Faster, Easier Metalwork with SpaceClaim - Desktop Engineering
The suffix plus in SpaceClaim 2011+, the latest upgrade from SpaceClaim Corp., may be a reference to the new sheet-metal functions added to the software. Many CAD users have discovered — like I did — that using direct modeling tools to create and edit sheet metals is a lot easier than using a classic parametric modeler. The ability to push, pull, and rotate sheet-metal plates and corners without worrying about their feature history gives you a lot more freedom in how you work. (You don’t, for example, need to worry about regeneration failure when you need to reposition a plate past the bend line you’ve defined previously.

SpaceClaim Stakes Manufacturing Claim - Design News
Building off the
generalist focus of this year's earlier release, SpaceClaim has launched an upgrade to its 2011 3D direct modeling platform that makes a beeline for manufacturing production environments by packing in an array of new functions.
SpaceClaim can tout as its claim to fame raising the CAD world's consciousness to the benefits of direct modeling. Over the years, it has infiltrated a number of industry segments and smaller shops with its promise of a less complex but still powerful CAD environment.

In 2007 we laughed at SpaceClaim; well, laugh no longer as the company talks "displacements" - WorldCAD Access
"It is fair to say that we're being more aggressive in this release as we see how our is being used in the market," [said Blake Courter, Director of Customer Development, SpaceClaim]. Indeed, new features in 2011+ are oriented toward detail design work, such as hole tables and the output of drawings and details."

CIMdata Publishes "Overcoming the Barriers Imposed by Geometry" - MCAD Cafe
According to Ken Versprille, Ph.D., CIMdata Executive Consultant, "To succeed in preparing geometry for finite element meshing, a product must be able to import the extensive range of CAD model formats commonly used in industry and offer an intuitive user interface that is easy to learn by non-CAD experts. SpaceClaim boasts a positive record in each case, as testified to by their customers."

RS components make 3D CAD models available in SpaceClaim format to enable direct modeling for faster design
Commenting for RD Components, Mark Cundle, technical marketing manager, said: "SpaceClaim is unique in its ability to involve many disciplines in the product design process. By doing so early in the design cycle, it eliminates a lot of time-consuming rework associated with traditional processes and enables organisations to tap into creative contributions from a variety of individuals from diverse disciplines. It's an extension of the RS promise to make it very easy for all contributors to the design process to find, design-in and buy electronic components."

Ray Kurland Interviews Blake Courter about SpaceClaim's success with CAE customers
There are two workflows we see the most. One is when simulation users unfortunately have to do simulation after the CAD models have been made — which is usually a bit more work. And then there are the cases where companies use simulation before CAD to drive product development. That’s obviously a much more efficient strategy.

Applying Lean to Product Development - Design News
Rather than mapping lean manufacturing directly to product development, engineering teams need to consider information flow and knowledge capture to truly reduce efficiencies and optimize the process...Modeling tools like SpaceClaim can facilitate set-based design techniques, which let engineers explore diverse design alternatives before committing to detailed design.

SpaceClaim Engineer 2011- Develop 3D
SpaceClaim is an interesting beast of a 3D design system. Its launch in
2007 was the catalyst for many CAD software developers to concentrate on
the direct editing of geometry, which has now become a major focus for
the 3D design tool industry. During the past four years we’ve seen SpaceClaim change from being a
basic and general-purpose tool designed to manipulate ‘dumb’ geometry
into something more intriguing.

SpaceClaim’s Snappy Return with STL- DE's Kenneth Wong's Virtual Desktop
"SpaceClaim 2011 remains one of the easiest 3D mechanical modeling
programs to learn and use, especially for those with little or no
training in parametric or history-based modeling. The push-pull modeling
method it championed significantly reduces the learning curve, making
its operations much more intuitive and predictable. With no reliance on a
history tree, it gives you the freedom to edit, refine, and correct
imported 3D CAD geometry with greater speed."
