Hi,
I think the easiest way to draw a stair profile is one at a time.
I sketch one stair with all the necessary details like a lip or a draft.
Then i box select all of the lines and copy (ctrl+C) and paste (ctrl+V) them back in.
Next I drag the copied lines with select until they snap together.
I would continue to repeat this until I made the number of steps necessary. I made a short challenge video of this which can be found at:
