    Text color

How can I change the colour of text? Changing the layer colour that the text is on has no effect and there's no colour controls on the right-click menus.

    Engle,

if you select the text block and go to the display tab on top of your screen you can click on the little arrow and change the text in any color you want (see picture). Notice however that there is a little bug, the colored text will only be printed in black. This will be fixe in the next Service Pack early July.

Thanks Willem, you beat me to the response.

Engle, Willem is correct, but he missed one thing.  By default, annotations are given a color override when created, typically Black.  You can remove this override by selecting Remove Color Override from the Color dropdownon the Display Tab while you have the annotation selected.  This will cause the note to revert to the Layer color.

    Remove Color Override

You can change the default override color, or disable the ocerride altogether from the SpaceClaim Options > Detailing menu:

     Color Override Option

    Hope this helps,

    James

    Re: Text color

Thanks for the replies and pictures. That helps a lot. I was looking in the wrong place! Could the colour drop down you've shown be added to the right-click menu that appears when you click on the text itself? That would keep font, text size and colour edit controls all close at hand.

I run SC on dual 20" monitors and I'm clocking up a lot of 'mouse miles' at the moment. Everything seems to have been spread as far apart as you could possibly manage - command line/ feedback at bottom left of screen, most buttons are top left, context sensitive buttons are top right and failure/error messages are bottom right! I use Rhino a lot (a hell of a lot!) and I have the pop-up toolbar customised to give me 42 buttons, most of them doubled up with left and right-click commands. This allows me to spend the vast majority of my time just looking at the cursor, which, after all, is where the work should be going on.

     James,

sorry I was ahead of you, was not meant as a contest, only trying to help other users. But thank you for your workaround with the "Remove Color Override" function. I was not aware of that but it solves my printing problems for the moment.

In response to Engle's 'mouse miles' comment, there are a few settings that may improve your experience a bit.

First off, you can switch the location of the Tool guides with an option in the SpaceCLaim Options > Advanced menu:

You can also push the Status Messages into the top corner of the design window from the SpaceClaim Options > Popular menu:

Together, the two options should give you a more condensed region of UI elements:

Remember also that the panels (Structure, Layer, Options, etc.) can all be docked around in any configuration you like.

    Regards,

    James

    Re: Text color

Thanks James, that's MUCH better. Some of the terminology used in those options tabs is new to me, so it's all taking time to get used to.
