    dxf export

is there a setting to make the 2D view of sheet metal, just a wire frame, NO shading etc?
When I export the DXF I get lots of extra information above and beyond the lines I need.

Secondly, when i import a DXF from techsoft 2D design (A UK made 2D package, used widely in UK schools) I find it very difficult to pull the shapes, as the lines are treated separately, eg A box imported, comes in as 4 lines, and the solid shape is ingonerd when pulling.  I have had to pull the 4 walls, then FILL the middle in.

Did you try to go to wireframe mode before exporting? I have no such issues when exporting 2D sheet metal to laser cutting when exporting from wireframe. DXF import has two sides to look at: What does the techsoft package actually export, and what is the tolerance of the line end points? I have seen similar issues with too big a tolerance. Martin

You should try selecting the loop of curves and hitting the Fill button first.  This will create a surface body, which you can then extrude with the Pull tool to create a solid.

Additionally, if your curves all lie on a common plane, you can speed things up by selecting the plane and going into Sketch mode.  From here, going back to 3D (hitting the Pull or Fill tool works best) will attempt to create surfaces for all closed loops on the plane.

    Hope this helps,

No I haven't gone to wire frame
Just tried the sketch suggestion, I now get a full PULL when i pull.
Colour comes in dark black, i normally get a green when I design from scratch
Can't seem to change  it to green though

Techsoft doesn't give any options except USE ARC.

I don't know which DXf version it exports, I will ask them

AFAIK if you have say a triangle sketched of three black lines and extrude them, the resulting solid will be all black, no matter what colour you have set in your file. You should be able to remove the colour via the display tab, though.
