    Make a chain!

Any idea on how to make a chain an flow it along a curve?

    Like the image!

    Thank you

    Marco

P.S.: I think that the correct way is to use constrain... I'll try!

    Hello Marco

I would suggest using the Move tool to copy the original link along the trajectory. Let me know if this approach works for you. You may want to experiment with 'Create Patterns' at the same time.

    Re: Make a chain!

Thank you very much for your answer,

I tried, but pattern could not follow my path...

    http://www.mediafire.com/?iozhtnjirw3

At the link above you can download my simple scene test...

    1. Made a spline

    2. Made a sphere

    3. Placed the sphere at the beginning of the spline

    4. Selected the sphere and used the move tool (with bent arrow tool on the right to select the spline)

    5. ctrl+drag to place a copy of the sphere at the end of the spline

    6. Selected a sphere of the pattern and changed the number of the object of the pattern.

Result: stright pattern and not a pattern that flows along the spline! Where was the problem?

    Thank you

    Marco

    Re: Make a chain!

    Hi Marco

I'm guessing that you did not have the trajectory of the spline correctly selected - you should see the Move handle change to yellow ball with a single blue arrow, and as you drag the solid, it should follow the spline if correctly selected.

Please let me know if this corrects your issue - I was able to use your model to produce the correct result.

    Regards

I can see the blue arrow and, when I drag, it follow the spline from the beginning to the end!

    It's strange!

    Thanks

    Marco

    Hi Marco

I am using the latest release (SpaceClaim 2008 SP4), and tested in SP2 as well, and it worked properly in both. What release are you using? (Check in SpaceClaim Options, Resources, About... and look for the version information)

    Regards

    No SP, TheoE...

This is the Demo Version that I've installed on the office PC and some months later on my PC too... It's the same installation file downloaded on july at work!

    SpaceClaim 2008.0.0.04036...

    Thanks a lot

    Marco

    Hi Marco

I recommend upgrading - it will likely correct this and many other issues you may encounter.
